Criminal in the family
« on: Sunday 06 March 11 20:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi can any one help. we have a mystery.
ancestor Alfred frost born 1871 Beverley, married Annie Eliza in hunslet 1898.
in 1911 census just discovered he is not with family in south kirkby,
family are wife Annie Eliza, sons George and Alfred, daughters Edith and Annie.
we found him on prison census . in portland prison weymouth. he died in 1929. no one has living memory of him. we would love to find out what he did and how long he was in jail for. he was a labourer at the steel works in hunslet in the 1901 census and on his daughter Annie's marriage cert he is down as coal miner.

First step try newspapers for the South Kirkby area after 1901 until the 1911 census. Also contact the local archives, you never know, he might have been involved in a big case, or arrested for involvement in a strike etc. and jailed.
