Feel very emotional seeing the terrible scenes on tv.

Love to everyone.  The whole city - no make that NZ - are all in my thoughts.

Newbe send a reply to my text last night.

The economic cost of this is going to be horrendous.   People who didn't have houses affected by the last one, have this time.

I hope you get the news you want soon omega (( hugs ))... most of the media coverage is from the central city but as Janette said, Lyttleton was the epicentre. Haven't heard that they're doing major rescues there :-\  ... definitely there is certainly a lot of structural damage ...

HP it will be so much worse for so many, a watershed for Chch now, too much damage for jobs and lives to remain for some .... the immediate worst thing though obviously is loss of life  :'(

Today is going to be difficult for many....The death toll rises but we can hope that there are resues as well..Many tradesman from around the nation who are already repairing house's, businesses etc, from the last eartquake are in the hot zone, who normally wouldn't have been there.

We are fortunate, our Aussie friends and even the UK are sending search and rescue unit's, we just aren't prepared for this kind of thing.

Thoughts and prayers to all.

lil

The process used for identifying deaths is to confirm identity, there maybe 65 or more deaths but nothing is confirmed until identification is determined. 38 deaths have been confirmed as they have been identified, there are more bodies but unidentified. This is probably a more thorough process rather than speculation, as harsh and cruel as it may sound

Can anyone tell me anything about the Cashmere district of Christchurch? Still haven't heard from my cousin who lives there - I realise the internet/power is probably down but I see there's some damage to the Cashmere mall and I'm wondering what it's like elsewhere in the area.

Thanks,
Ann

I was looking at the Herald on line http://www.nzherald.co.nz/ ... there was a big map on page 2 this morning that was quite helpful but I cant see it on there and I gave the paper to my FIL an hour ago ... seeing as he pays for it! ... you may find snippets on that site though  :-\
