Good Morning
Just to say we had a good sleep last night, only woke to two aftershocks, both children slept through both shakes, so hopefully no grumpy children and parents.
There is threat of disease with the water, and the death toll may reach over 300! Just a waiting game now.
Thanks for posting the photo's. Our beloved Cathedral is in ruins, I just burst out crying when I saw it falling to the ground, it holds a lot of memories, My family owned part of the land it sits on many years ago (1860). I remember meeting my grandmother there with my mother as a little girl, a big journey on the bus as a 3/4 year old, a special outing to met up with your Gran and going to a Cafe for lunch. It will never be the same.
Sorry I can not give details on any other statue, I saw Scott has fallen on the News. No one is allowed near the Four Avenues, it is just too dangerous and we must let the E.M.S do their job.
My hubby is now off to work. His boss is a complete idiot, no one is allowed back at work unless it is for the good of others. I do not think carpet is a great concern to people. He has a real mess to clean up, containers are coming and a better fork lift to lift those carpet rolls. I said to him to be careful and get out is there are any aftershocks.
I still can not get hold of my elderly Aunt (she is the last link to my mother) The phones just are not working. She will not have water or power, but her son lives across the road from her, so I know she will be safe.
I was able to wash children last night, put the plug in the bath to save the water, maybe get some washing done with it, and then scoop it out onto the garden. If ggg granny could do it, so can I.
