what a shock to wake up and hear about this lastest  quake...  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Churchchurch.    Just heard from cousin's daughter who lives in ChCh and they are fine but in a state of shock...

Hi

Thanks for your kind words of support.

A dreadful night with little sleep.  Many aftershocks.  All sleeping in one room, including our little dog.

Can not flush the toilet or use showers.

We are one of the lucky 20% who still have water, phones and power.  Water can not be drunk without boiling first.

Very unclear on the death toll, now they are saying 38 not 65.  People still trapped, and some had to have limbs taken off to get them out of the rubble.

All school children are to stay home.  No one is allowed near the city centre.

Will keep everyone updated

And far too many to add

Just seen the BBC 6 o'clock news, with some terrible pictures.

Thinking of you, Suzy, and all those in the city where we were made to feel so welcome by everyone we met.

Hi Suzy!

You were the first person that I thought of when I heard the devastating news first thing this am. Am so relieved to hear that you, your family and many other CHCH RCers are OK. Is there still no news of annie and leandra ???

I was devastated when I heard the news, as I think I said on the original CHCH thread, I left a little piece of my heart there when I came home in 1984. :'( :'(

To all CHCHers, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this terrible time.

Best wishes to you all, and take care!

Janette, I did notice Leandra had been online after the quake early in the afternoon, don't know about Aniph/Annie though ... do you know if Newbe/Eileen got home?

...re the numbers on the death toll, the 38 is the number that they have formerly formally identified and the families have been contacted, unfortunately the 65 is still very conservative  :'(
