Thanks Geebeetas - I think we had worked out that Joseph had married his cousin after Emma died, though had not sent for a certificate to prove it. I have been lacking much info for Markfield, so could only assume Charles and Nathaniel were brothers - there is also a Henry of similar age. According to Nathaniel's marriage, his father was Joseph - there was also a George in Markfield of suitable age.
It was only when I started searching through records that the spelling differences came up - I had always known my Gran's name as Blakesley - Charles and his family seemed to add the "e" after 1851.
My only knowledge of burials is what Mike came up with in the previous post, and my Gran - Ada Elizabeth Yates (nee Blakesley) - is buried behind the Baptist Church in Woodhouse Eaves with her husband. I always assumed the Baptist bit came from her (it usually does doesn't it?).
I would be very interested in your Blakesley research, as I know nothing prior to Charles, and as I posted earlier we have this book of photographs which I think was my gran's, but can't identify who they are.
