Tracing forwards? Mycroft family in Pinxton
« on: Thursday 03 March 11 07:42 GMT (UK) »
I have traced my family tree back as far as I can from where I am (I live overseas) but seem to lack to ability or knowledge how to find children of my grandfather's siblings! I guess it is possible that they are alive but I have no names, no information at all to go on.

I have no idea what to do as I have nothing to search on - I wondered if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction how to find any offspring of the following couples:

Frank Bernard Mycroft  - Born 1 July 1896  Derbyshire Pinxton - Died 1965
and
Gladys Phillips - Married 1927

Albert Straw Mycroft - Born 24 May 1898 Derbyshire Pinxton - Died 1971
And  / or (I am not sure which one is correct or maybe he was married to both)
Gladys Granger   Married 1918  / Annie Holmes  1921??

Dorothy Ann Mycroft - Born 31 May 1903  Pinxton Derbyshire - Died ???
And
Harry Baggaley - Married 1925

Any advice / information on how to find any children of these couples would be greatly appreciated !

Hi haltest & welcome to RootsChat

From about 1911, birth index registrations in England and Wales show the mother's maiden surname so children of these couples should be identifiable (well maybe   :))

FreeBMD at www.freebmd.org.uk

shows 1 birth for Mycroft mmn Phillips in 1931

As this person could still be living, I won't post details here, but if you need any help I can send you a PM (personal message)

Hi & welcome

It doesn't look like the Mycroft's stayed in Pinxton as the last baptism there was in 1907.

There is child baptised to Harry & Dorothy Baggaley, so I will send you a PM.

Hi again

Have you checked the surname interest table on this site?  There is someone who is researching Baggaley's of Mansfield and also someone who is researching Mycroft's of Derbyshire. Might be worth getting in touch.

My own family research is around the Pinxton area and I do have a Frank Mycroft in my tree.  My connection is through his wife Harriett Straw. If you want any details on that line please get in touch.

Hi

I remember Frank Bernard Mycroft (Barney) even though I was just 6 years of age when he died.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I filled in a few gaps from everyone's posts! Still have some gaps though if Sunflower is still active on here?
