Mary Gibson, nurse to Lord Nelson's daughter
« on: Monday 31 January 11 00:44 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for info on a Mary Gibson who was nurse to Nelson's daughter for the first 5 years of her life (1801-1806). Myself, and relatives who just recently connected, have found ourselvess sharing the story of how WE are related to the said Mary Gibson.  Stories have been passed down over the years of how the Gibsons were grafted into the Nelson line in gratitude of her service.  I'm skeptical BUT would like to solve the mystery of the said Mary Gibson. I have been able to take our Gibson family back to a David Gibson born at Cornhill, England in 1755, but I have hit a wall and cannot connect MY family to the said Mary Gibson.  I'm wondering if anybody out there has any ideas about this??? (see Gibson Family Tree)

Hi paschwar

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

I am puzzled as to why you may have started this topic on the London & Middlesex board as you make no specific mention of the place or an event that may have occured here.

You have also not attached a link to the Gibson family tree which may be helpful for us to help you.

Looking forward to a reply.

Thanks for the followup.  Reading the old bio info on Lord Nelson, Mary Gibson was living at #9, Little Titchfield St, Marylebone when the infant was put in her care. The other address that comes up later is Margate, Ramsgate which I realize is in Kent county. Thanks so much for your assistance. The following link will get you to the Gibson tree:

Mary Gibson of Marylebone, 1780's to 1840's

I am looking for a connection between the Gibson's from Berwickshire, Scotland and a Mary Gibson of Marylebone area, she being the wetnurse to Lord Nelson's illegitimate daughter for 4 years.  If anyone has info on the Gibson's from Marylebone (around 1800), I'd love to hear about them.
