Not sure if you have them 1851 under Barrow;
Matthew, 1786, Northd, Dodley
Mary, 1793, Northd, Halton
children all born OWston and new Child THOMAS c 1844
Ages are hard to read for Matthew/Mary
HO107/2413/476/18

EDIT Mary look like 51 to me born c 1801.

Not sure about the Henry as his Father as he does not name a Son Henry.
I would personally go with the Thomas but am unsure as I cant find a Christening.

Thank you Gillian,

I dont know if they were catholic but that may be why I cannot find him in the parish records as I am pretty sure hewas born there.

That has been a massive help.

Trish, I have that cenus record - they were at Ouston Moor, which I know is the right family but I dont think Thomas was his father

The help you have given me is so helpful.  Thank you so much

There are two Matthew Barron baptisms, probably cousins, at Cheeseburn Grange Roman Catholic Chapel in Stamfordham, in the right time frame.

1789, 4 Oct, Baptized Mathew Barrons of Dodleys Farm, legitimate son of David Barrons Junior, and Mary Barrons (formerly Usher) who was born on the 4th inst, about one in the morning. The sponsors were Matthew Barrons and Ellenor Barrons.  James Sharpe.

1790, 26 Feb, Baptized Mathew Barrons of Horseley, born ye 25th inst., about ???, legitimate son of  Henry and Elizabeth Barrons (formerly Usher). The sponsors were David and Mary Barrons of Dodley Farm. James Sharpe M.A.

Given the Dodley birthplace in 1851 census, I'd go for the first one.

WolfieSmith!
You are a legend!!!  I had thought that his father may have been David as there was a grave very close to his in Stamfordham with David and sons (also named David)  They were at Dodley as the family seemed to have been there for quite a while.  I have visited the farm and the new owners took me around and made me tea!  They also had photos of my great great grandmother.

Thanks to all of you but I think that must be the one.  May be a push too far but I dont suppose you know where I can look for more info on David and Mary?

Kindest Regards Emma

Emma,

Just a quick snippet, parts of this Stamfordham Barron family, moved to Stannington to farm, then over the Tyne to
Jarrow/Hebburn area.  Later census enumerators had problems with the Stamfordham And Stannington birth places recording the hybrid " Stannerton".

Here is a link to the marriage licence that Gillian couldn't access the other day

https://www.familysearch.org/s/image/show#uri=http%3A//pilot.familysearch.org/records/pal%3A/MM9.1.i/dgs%3A004088692.004088692_00178&hash=Mrd8SMocDIIen2Q83tu%252B82PRagg%253D

Don't be put off by the length of it - just click and it will take you there - image 178 in 1827

It doesn't tell you anything extra but might be nice to have.

The Marriage License is on page 98 of the 1784 Durham Marriage Licences, at the link given by Christine.
David Barron ... of Simonburn .... bachelor aged 29 and upwards ..... Mary Usher of Ovingham....spinster aged 24 and upwards.
Surety by David Barron of Low Marallss in Northumberland, Yeoman, and James Nicholson, Schoolmaster, of Ovingham.

Other baptisms of children of David and Mary, at the Cheeseburn Grange Catholic Chapel.

1788 June 15th. Baptized David, born about 8 in the evening. The legitimate son of David and Mary Barrons Jun, of Dodley Farm. The sponsors were David Barrons Sen. and Mary Johnson.

Brothers George and Joseph Barrons are still farming at Dodley 1841-1861.

There is a death record of a David Barron of Hill Head, March 20th 1796 in the same register. May be David Snr? Hill Head is the adjoining farm to Dodley.

Familysearch has a baptism of a David Barron, son of David Barron and Mary, baptized Stamfordham 25 Dec 1753.
