Hi Martin,

The images of the birth certificates for Victoria are usually very very detailed, and include information about the parents of the baby whose birth is being registered.   I can see from the Vic BDM online index that your lass was born 1856, and her birth was registered as Ann Letitia.  The Index has her father's name as Andrew AMESBURY, and her mum as Margaret Ann BENNETT.  The reference no. is 11817.  The index records her place of birth as Emerald Hill.

At the Resources Board for Australia, you will find a sub-board dedicated to Victoria.

At the Victoria resources you will find a thread about what to expect on Vic BDMs

 Births
 Date and place of birth;
 name of child and whether present or not;
 name of parents (including mother's maiden name);
 occupation of parents;
 ages and birthplace of parents;
 date and place of marriage of parents;
 previous children of their marriage noting living or deceased;

 signature, description and address of the person who gave the information;
 names of witnesses;
 date and place of registation.

The image is available to download immediately, via a plastic card payment of $24.50.

I have highlighted several of the pieces of information that the Vic BDM for Ann will hopefully provide you so you can share and the English RChatters can then use their local knowledge to help you advance your quest.

PS,  perhaps you could consider asking the Global Moderators to merge your two profiles.  :D

Eliza Ansbrey sister  50    Dovercourt   (char woman)
Hannah Fullager  Visitor    6   Harwich, Essex

Just adding a couple of further variations to the AINSBURY surname ...

South Australia Births
1878
Clara Ashton, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie HANSBURY, in the Gilbert District...

1880
Annie Letitia, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie Letitia ANSBUARY, Gilbert District

1882
Thomas Henry, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annee Letitia ANSBURY, Gilbert District

1884
George Andrew, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Ann Leticia ANESBURY, Clare District

1886
Frances Bertha, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie HEMSBURY, Clare District

1888
Effie Adelaide, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie Letitia ANESBURY,  Clare district

1890
Frederick Charles Benjamin, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie Letitia ANSBURY, Clare district

1894
Samuel Edwin, parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie Letitia ANSBURY, Clare district

1896
James,  parents as Thomas BROOKS and Annie Letitia ANESBURY, Clare district

Index is free to search : https://www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html

All those children, and NONE named Margaret .... I realise the surname is not on the top of the popularity poll, but .... what document actually confirms the 1856 birth in the colony of Victoria with the 1875 marriage in the colony of South Australia?  I think S.A. marriage certificates in that era had very little family history information...

All the same people. They are my great great maternal grandparents.
I believe there is even more variations than that.

I've added John, William, Eliza and George.
I wonder if the other 5 exist, died at birth or born different area.

Whilst I haven't seen a baptism, there is Mary born c1832 (who appears in the 1851 census), and another John born c1827 (in the 1871 census). So they are 2 more.  ;)
