Found an image and a little more of it's history ;D
Just hope it is your man now?

Funny enough, a member of my family said on this shame ship then called SS Tunisian to Canada, and placed in Barnardo's Home.
The Tunisian seemed to be the primary carrier of British Home Children making as many as 8 to 10 trips per year.

Hey thanks for all the info.

It's such a lot to take in and because you have made such an effort I double checked with my mum about the photo. She said it is definitely my dads father, John Alfred Leadsome.

I shall go over all the info again and check the links you have suggested.

Any developments I shall get back to you.

Deryn

If this is the correct person
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=8485380&queryType=1&resultcount=1
and it seems he had Merchant Navy service after 1918 (sailed on MARBURN 1922) then there is a good chance he has records in the Fourth register of merchant seamen (Central Index)
Cost you £15 to find out.
