Thanks heaps, Mike.  Actually, I am surprised they didn't get a worse sentence.  I am not sure I like to have this fellow in my family tree.  I don't think I would have liked to have met him on a dark night!  Perhaps he is lucky that transportation had ended by this time.

Hi there, I found an old newspaper report about this, I'm not sure if it's the one you've already seen, but I've attached it to this message in case it's a new one. Hope the attachment works OK. It's from the Leicester Chronicle & Leicester Mercury, Oct 13 1877.
