Military Records for Hedley Carter
« on: Sunday 27 February 11 08:17 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for Military records for a HEDLEY VICARS CARTER, born 1881 in Sussex. I have his Medal Roll index which has him serving with The 1st Battalion Oxfordshire Regt and his military number was 6559. He also received the Queens South Africa Medal. Any help would be much appreciated

He may have service post 1921 so records could still be with MOD
In ww1 he served with 2nd Ox and Bucks Light Infantry and then The Somerset Light Infantry.

He also served in Afghanistan in 1919 and was awarded the GSM in India.

If he didnt have post war service then his record could have been destroyed in the blitz ww2..only 30% survive.
