Another possible source is the local paper. Many reports of soldiers being killed or reported as missing were accompanied by small photos of the men concerned. Don't just look at the issue immediately after the event, go through several issues, especially if it was only a weekly paper.

I am researching the 452 names on Goole Cenotaph from the 'Great War'. Have located a number of official records, material and details from the Goole Times printed throughout the War years. In addition I have also obtained copies of photos & letters from relatives of those named on the Cenotaph. In addition I am also researching 280+ men who all had a connection with Goole and who also died, but who are not named on the Cenotaph.
