McGrogans Londonderry

[McGrogan]

William McGrogan and wife Margaret left Ireland with 8 children and moved to Scotland by 1841 then America by 1855.  A William McGrogan found on 1831 Census of Tamlaghtard/Magilligan appears to be him.  I'm hoping to find some Catholic baptismal records of some children born 1829 through 1840.  Any suggestions?

      The records which you want are those of St. Aidans Roman Catholic Church in the parish of Tamlaghtard (Magilligan). Your profile does not state where you are but these records are available in the Public Record Office, Belfast, which is closed until the End of March. They are also available in the Public Library, Coleraine, in both cases on microfilm but I do not know the start dates.

Church records are supposed to start 1833 (baptisms and marriages) and 1863-1880 for burials but not sure what's covered on the microfilms.

NLI and PRONI microfilms only appear to cover records from 1863 onwards for RC Parish of Tamlaghtard.

The microfilms at Coleraine Library are copies of the ones in PRONI so will cover the same dates.

     I believe that the Genealogy Centre, mentioned in Shane's link, went out of business about two years ago but I think that another organisation, operated by Derry City Council, uses the same data bases but I do not have details.

Thanks for replies.  Since those Tamlaghtard records only start in 1863, I guess I'm outa luck for my McGrogans but maybe can find related ancestors.  I am located in Pennsylvania.  I have had luck with Scottish Catholic records and am interested in any Irish record infomation and appreciate any advice.
