Llanfabon St Mabon MI - WATKINS
« on: Saturday 26 February 11 07:45 GMT (UK) »
If anyone has access to * Monumental Inscriptions for the Parish Church of St Mabon at Llanfabon I would be ever so grateful for a look-up for Alice WATKINS ::) Or an even bigger ask is if anyone visits that church and might be able to scour round for a gravestone and take a photo if there is one?? :-*

FreeBMD - Alice WATKINS, born abt 1853, death reg 1908 Mar Qtr, age at death 55, Merthyr Tydfil, 11a 484

Glamorgan Burial Index - Alice WATKINS of Quakers Yard, 16 Jan 1908, age 55, Llanfabon St Mabon

I am hoping that this Alice is the wife of David Watkins and mother of Margaret Ann, Walter & Mary. It would be great to confirm if this is her or not and hopefully, if there is a memorial/gravestone for her it may shed some more light  8)

Hopefully
Vaz    :)

* Amended to remove request for specific resource lookup!

Been to the cemetery this AM.
There are two parts, the old and the new each part having graves that would cover the date you are looking for.
Could not find a headstone in either part. However, there were several headstones covered in lichen and ivy, more than I could clear... some I could not get to due to tree, bush and bramble coverage ... some that had broken, fallen and the inscriptions were facing downwards, and there were many more spaces where clearly graves have been used, but are unmarked. :(

No probs.. the Church is about 5 mins away... I can just as easily get to St Cynon's cemetery which may be a possibility for Quakers Yard area.. but then the Glam cemetery records show St Mabon's.. there's only one of them.
