That's forward thinking - bet your great-great-grandchildren will be very pleased sometime to read those documents - Are you going to write why the general census was cancelled/postponed at the time also - that would be interesting to read in the future.

Hi everyone,

This is a very valuable discussion which I hope is providing much-needed moral support to those affected directly by the events in Christchurch and in return helps those from elsewhere understand the daily struggles that they face.

But I am becoming concerned about some of the comments posted. Could I ask that everyone avoids speculative comments which can cause great distress to others and where possible focus on positive aspects of the recovery.

Thank you.

Hi everyone, just to let you know that though shaken, and with the exception of my wife, my family and I got through the shake. My wife was thrown from her government chair into some government furniture and sustained a couple of broken ribs. She has pain killers"for Africa" but seems to be on the mend, though it will be 6 to 8 weeks. To add insult to her injury, when she reached her parked car a house had collapsed onto it. We see it some nights on the telly. Can't get near it though.

The concerns expressed by those of you out of town and out of country will help us to move forward I am sure.

Kia Kaha Christchurch.
