I know of a number of ex-pat Kiwi's wanting to come home and help.
Suburbs had to wait until the city was taken care of, people were trapped in buildings under rubble and on fire, I think they had the right to be seen first.
Those in the suburbs who are walking and talking can make do until the injured are taken care of, even if it meant having no water or power, they are alive, can pitch together and get things sorted.
Sorry to sound so hard nosed about it, but it is something you learn in first aid, if you come across a car accident you do not go to the person walking around, you go to the person who is still or in shock first.
Sorry to hear Wellington had another shake, when you get 24 in one day, that is nerve racking. Have a kit ready with a tent, blankets, water, food, torch, gas BBQ and a bucket for a make shift toilet.
We have had a offer to go to Victoria any time we want too. School should be back next week for my children, so will have to think about where or if we go away.
Mental health is going to be a big concern. My friend who is a nurse, said there has already been a big jump in cases. That is why it is good to write or talk about your feelings to anyone.
