Would SKS be able to look for a marriage at Mildenhall, Suffolk, between John PARSONS & Mary Ann PITCHES, c. 1836-1839 please.

Thanks kindly.

This marriage must have been after Civil Registration and was a second marriage for one or both of them

There is a 16yr old dtr Harriet Parsons and a 14yr old Henry Parsons but also a 15yr old stepson Henry Pitches/Ditches/Pitcher

Nothing on freebmd but I am not convinced about the step sons surname

Thank you kindly for taking the time to help.  Harriet & Henry do belong to the family I am researching.  Were you looking at the 1851 census?

Yes - I was.

I can't find the Parsons on the 1841 census nor can I find Henry Pitches - it would help determine whether John & Mary were together as early as 1841

Henry is descibed as "son in law" which was the way many enumerators recorded step children

As far as I know, John Parsons & Mary Pitches had their first child in 1839, a daughter, Mary Ann Parsons, possible birth in Cosford Sfk Sept Qtr 1839. Vol 12 Page 315.  A second daughter, Elizabeth, was christened on the 21st Feb. 1941 at Mildenhall, Suffolk.

If you have easy access to the 1841 census, would Mary Pitches' parents be somewhere there?  They were David PITCHES/PETCHEY & Alice.  Maybe young Henry Pitches was with them?  Mary's parents were married at Mildenhall in 1799.

Regards,
Alison

1841 for Butley has a Mary Parsons aged 3 living with Eliza Parsons 47 but she is shown as not born in county as are the other 2 children

Per IGI - John married Ann Wing in 1833 and son Henry was christened in Feb 1837.  Assuming Ann was still alive at that time - she would have had to have died and John re-married - all before 1.7.1837 - a 5mth timescale

So - was Ann Wing really Mary Ann or Ann Mary Wing?

Do you have a copy of the 1839 birth cert for Mary Ann confirming her mothers maiden name?

Mary was born in Mildenhall per 1851 census so any birth should have been in the Mildenhall Registration district - not Cosford

This is son Charles's birth reg

Births March qtr 1843

Charles Parsons       Mildenhall  13 469

And this is a submitted IGI entry

Charles PARSON  Birth:  15 FEB 1843  Suffolk, England  Death:  10 JAN 1913

Father:  John PARSON    Mother:  Ann Mary WING

This might help clear some notes for you.

John Parsons marred Ann Wing on the 12 oct 1833 at Mildenhall
John Parsons (widow) married May Pitches on the 26th May 1837 at Mildenhall
I could not find a death for Ann though but John Parsons and Ann Wing had a child Henry Parsons born 15 Jan 1837 and was bapt 21st Feb 1837 at West Row Mildenhall. So she must have died 1837... but John did not seem to waste time in remarrying.
