Tramroad, are you sure he died in Keighley? I cannot see anything remotely near those dates for Keighley or West Yorkshire for that matter.

Hello Tramroad, it is possible that your George did not die but perhaps Emigrated?
I can see a death for a George E Poole, born 1858 Barnsley.  I have a feeling the death is outside of the UK.  He died Jan 1938.
Let me know what you think.

Hello Tramroad.  Well, thats really strange.  I can see George on the 1871 Census. Born 1858 Barnsley.  (There were 2 on 1871 Census - the other boy, also  known as George E, born same year and in Sheffield).

Do you have access to A......y?  Have a look at the family trees - It is definitely George E Poole, born 1858, Barnsley, died 1938.  I have checked the English deaths and cannot make a match, which makes me think he died outside the UK as place of death is not listed.  These trees are 'locked'.  I suggest you have a look and get in contact.

Hi Tramroad

I had a look at the free BMD's GRO index for England and Wales and there is one George Poole death born 1858 Just out side your dates given but it in London area of West Ham

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
Deaths Sep 1880

POOLE  George  aged 22  W.Ham  4a 5

This is the only one near your dates given.

I not looked at the Scottish Deaths but here is their link search

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?404
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hello Tramroad,  I think I may have found your man.  The possible death is registered under Bolton.

George E Poole Bolton / Age 81
Jan-Mar 1939 / Wakefield
Vol No: 9c / Page No: 23

Madri

Correction:  George E P Bolton (not as I have typed out above)  still think he is your man though.
