BRITTON family Glmorgan Wales
« on: Thursday 24 February 11 17:56 GMT (UK) »
Hello I am looking for William Britton who married Mary Jane Taylor (b:1873 Preston, Lancashire) they had a daughter Mary Elizabeth Britton (1893-abt:1959) she married Charles Frederick Pedersen in 1911. I believe they were from Maerdy Glamorgan, Wales, UK, and once married they lived in Pontypridd. Searching from Canada any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I would like to know more about his past I believe his wife Mary Jane Taylor married abt: 1887. But it would be interesting to know anything about the family of William & Mary Jane. Cheers, Kim

This looks to be Mary Jane TAYLOR  but her age maybe a little young for a marriage in 1887  :-\

her marriage certificate would confirm father's name & occupation

Hi Ladyhawk I have got to go out for a second, I think William is on RG11/4233/106/9, but only purchase of Marriage Certificate will confirm if this is correct family?

Keyboard86 that's the very one on my screen at the moment!!! The only puzzling thing is the place of birth given for William on all censuses after 1891 his birth place is given as Bristol  :-\ Will take a look at the 1871c

The only way to be sure is the marriage certificate of William & Mary Jane. Unfortunately no details on Lancashire OPC apart from the banns, nothing on familysearch beta or pilot either  :(

The 1881 census details I posted for Mary Jane do you think she is too young??

ADDED

Found another Mary J TAYLOR born Preston agemore in keeping with marriage 1887

1881c 6, Singleton Row, Preston

TAYLOR, Mary J Lodger Single F 11 1870 Half Time Weaver Preston Lancashire
Another lodger named Taylor perhaps her sister  :-\
TAYLOR, Elizabeth Lodger Single F 14 1867 Cotton Weaver Farington Lancashire

M J & William Britton have more children one son is named Arthur I'm speculating here that may be he was named after William's father and I'm wondering if this could be William on 1871c.

As previously mentioned the marriage certificate for William & Mary Jane will provide the answers

1871 Strafford Street, St Philip & Jacob, Bristol

Elizh Daughter F 11 1860 St. George’s Gloucestershire
William Son M 8 1863 Bristol Gloucestershire
Polly Daughter F 3 1868 Gloucestershire
Rose Daughter F 0 1871 Gloucestershire

Purely for info. as everything should be vertified just in case this does turn out to be the family of William Britton bn 1864 Bristol
