Hello Reg,

Unfortunately there is no 1890 US Census, it was almost entirely destroyed by fire and onlky remnants remain.  This looks to be your family in  - 1900 Brooklyn Ward 23, Kings, New York


William H Smith 40 Born New York Oct 1859. Married 1880. Policeman. Parents Born Ireland.
Mary Smith 37 Born NY Nov 1862. Married for 20 years. Had 3 children and 3 survive. Parents Born Ireland.
Alfred Smith 18 Born NY July 1881.  Clerk. Shipping
Mary Smith 16 Born NY June 1884
Fanny Smith 14 Born NY June 1856
Mary Demspey 76 Born Ireland Nov 1823. Mother-In-Law.
