Where in Canada would I look for Irish immigration record between 1820-1845?

This will take you to the databases for immigration.
In addition, you can go to Pier21 to look for later immigrants.
Grosse Ile is for earlier immigrants.
Do also look for Castle Garden and  Ellis Island  in New York, as a lot of Canadians landed in the US, then went to Canada. Most of the eastern ports had immigration stations

There is very little for this period since ship lists weren't regularly kept in Canada at the time.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked over all the ships record and immigrtion records for that time. There is very little on record for that time. I also was looking at the same time from emigrating ships from Ireland,but with the huge number of people leaving the country very few names are documented.
I was hoping there might be a location where they might have a hard copy. We are pretty sure that our family came right to and stayed in Toronto.

You might try some censuses.

These censuses are organized by counties. Some are very detailed are less.

You might go to automated genealogy - most people use it for  the later censuses, but the 1851 (Canada East) and 1852 (Canada West) can be useful. If you find it useful, you can look at township censuses.

Early Canadian immigration records are not easy to find.

If your family was still alive in 1900, their date(s) of immigration may be on the actual census image (as mentioned previously, automatedgenealogy is very helpful).

Don't believe everything you read, though...I have one ancestor who was absolutely in Toronto in 1857, yet his date of immigration was 1867.

They were alive and kicking in the 1900,. The first record we have is in 1849,and and we are pretty sure that the date the immigrated to Canada was between 1840-1847 just based on dates of birth and mirrage. I would be impossilble for them to leave prior to that based on hard dates.

Have you tried internet searches for them (providing they had an uncommon surname, of course)?  My ancestors arrived in Toronto c1830-1871 and over the years, I've found bits of "early" Toronto information for some of them.  It won't necessarily help with their immigration, but you might be able to find information prior to 1849.
