This seems to be the problem. I cannot locate any definate dates that our family left Ireland.
I know that John's father Michael and his Mother Mary left with them, and Mary was born in 1765. John was born in 1818 and Johns wife Mary was born in 1821. William was born in 1808. The first real date I can verify in Canada is Johns Children. Thomas was born in 1849. So the best estimate I can give you is that They all emigrated between mid 1830,and 1847. Those two date are purly speculation, but I do belive that John and Mary were already married before arrivng in Canada.
Hope this helps out some.

Hi,
Your dates are well before civil registration of BMD started in Ireland. You will have to depend on church records, where these exist. To find these we need to know the families religion and an accurate idea of where they lived, ie. parish or ideally townland.

That is what I have been told. The only information I have that relates to anywhere in Ireland is on a death certificate that lists Fermanagh Ireland as the birth place of William McHugh. That is the only place I have to look, and I know there are 52 parishes in fermanagh, and without that it is a very wide search. I really dont have anything else to go on from the Canadaian side, and we can get a very detailed history with the documents and records in Canada. The search dies in as soon as we back to Michael and his wife Mary that left Ireland with what appears to be the whole family, and unless Michael had brothers or sisters that remained we just do not know. I am hoping that someone with some knowlege of these people who might be related is also looking for a connection. I know its a long shot, but at this point after looking for many years it is all I can hope for.
Thank you for the help.

A lot of Irish left Ireland on the J & J Cooke Ships
http://Http://www.olivetreegenealogy.com (you might have to type this yourselve)
on two of the 1847 McHughes from Enniskillen but not your names
does it not say on John children birth certificate the name of the place his mother and father came from I was born in Ireland but live in England my birth certificates say I was born in Ballyshannon and my was from Carrickboy and my dad tralee,
do you know which church they went to, what about baptish records.

Since the son Thomas was born in Canada in 1849 there will be no Irish birth certificates for any of the family as civil registration of births started in 1864.

aghadowey, That is correct, Tho only reason I was able to locate anythign about Johns parents was because his wife mary died, and he remarried  after they kept detailed records in Canada. We actually found the reference to Fermanagh because it was listed on Johns brothers death certificate. That is unusual as well, becuase most only list Ireland on the place of birth, but for somereason they listed the county as well.
I have been in contact with Ulster ancestry and they say they might be able tolocate something on Michael and Mary before they left, and it will involve looking throught the tithe records for some hint of a parish and townland, and then looking at all 52 parishes if that doesnt work. They have quoted me 450 canadian dollars,or 220 pounds. Does that sound like a reasonable number? I have no idea,as I have never done this before, and are these companies reliable?

Yes, you've done well to get the county rather than just 'Ireland.' Just in case you haven't search all these Canadian sources for more detail already- have you tried the following?
Headstones, local histories (often have biographies of early families), traced all possible descendants to see if a placename is mentioned (often other branches have different information), local historical society, church records...

Will have a look around later and see if tithe records, etc. are online. Meanwhile perhaps other will be able to help or suggest where to search next.
