Mary Murray mystery????????
« on: Tuesday 22 February 11 14:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I'm trying to find Mary Murray born Mary Miilet in staffordshire b. 1834.
Mary married Richard Murray born Ireland jun qtr 1850 in The Wirral, they lived in Neston and had 8 children, the first being John in 1851.

Richard died aged 40 in neston in 1867 jun qtr, we have Mary in the 1871 and 1881 census still with children and still widowed, but she dissapears after this.

We can't find a second marriage for her or her death, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sammy.

Hi I have found Murrays born in Neston living in the area in 1901, have you traced all the children or are you just looking for Mary?

Hi,
The census has Mary's birth place as Dudley Staffordshire, I haven't yet traced all the children no, Mary is the direct line so was focusing on her at the moment.

On the 1871 census entry at RG10/3739/56/14, there are 9 children

John c1851, Michael c1852, Mary Ann c1855, Peter c1858, Ellen c1860, Elizabeth c1863, Catherine c1864, Christopher c1865, Richard c1868.

The five shown bold appear with Mary on the 1881 census on this link

At the moment, the only one, from that 1881 entry, that I can see on later entries is Christopher. GF

Hi, yes Mary's daughter Mary Ann is the direct line forward i have manged to follow that line to the present but cannot find the mother Mary after 1881, it shows that she didn't remarry by 1881 14 years after Richard her husbands death, there is no sign of her on any migration records, and as i mentioned cannot find her death or another marriage.
I had tryed to trace her possibly back to Staffordshire after 1881 but found nothing, it's a puzzler.

Sammy.

Then I have found Mary Murray on the 1901 census but her birthdate is transcribed wrong and is listed as 1840 not 1834and she comes from Dudley  and she is in Neston and although I cannot put the 1911 census on she is still alive in Neston then.

The 1901 entry which mr pinkwhistle may put up looks promising even though her age is somewhat adrift. She might be living with her daughter, Catherine (listed as Kate). GF
