Remember the caveats about deposition of coroners' records and the 75 year closure. Newspaper reports are the better bet.

Yes thanks I new about the 75yr thing, it don't apply as the incident was in 1870.
Have tried to find a report in newspapers....no luck
maybe it was never reported by the news

The problem is i'm not too sure how to look, and being abroad at the moment don't make it any easier, will be home in March so maybe i'll have better luck then,
Any tips on how to search would be grately appreciated !!

You know where and when he died from the certificate. Try the local reference library and ask for the local newspapers for that period. If they are filmed you should get immediate access, if they are originals they may be stored off site and notice will be needed to make them available.

Ok will try and find my local library, have been trying on line with Liverpool Newspapers as it happened in Aintree on the 1st Jan 1870 apparantly he was ' in drink'

Hello Chris,
My father was Herve Brown (son of Elizabeth Briant and William Brown) and I am looking for more information about our family tree. I don't know much about this side of the family but if you could shed any light I would be grateful. I had an Auntie Francis who lived in Sheffield so are you related at all? Regards, Anthony
