Alfred Bowley must be related to the other Bowleys on your Roll was born Nanpantan but resided Shepshed he died of wounds 25/3/18 but isnt comemorated on the Nanpantan one.

A Bowley, 45989 private in the Leicesters, from CWGC site, gives parents James and Mary.  Which would agree with the parents of the Bowley family on the Roll but does not give a forename.  There is  a sibling Alfred.  Will do some more digging to see if there is proof, to add as a footnote.

Edwin Angrave is on St.Pauls Woodhouse Eaves war memorial

John A Simmons, is a different person to John Adri Simmons.  There are 2 John Arthur Simmons born within 6 months of each other, who may fit the identity.  One residing in central Loughborough and one in Shepshed (which you have identified).  Both are equi-distant from Nanpantan so could be either or neither!

Hi

This is my first time on here, so not sure of how these things work yet.

Would just like to say that Alfred Bowley who died on 25/3/1918 was not on the Nanpantan war memorial because he is on the Shepshed one.  He was born in Nanpantan but the family moved to Shepshed in 1904.  Alfred was the elder brother of my grandmother Gertrude Bowley.  He was the son of James Bowley and Gerard Bowley was the son of Elijah Bowley James's brother. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi

Herbert Bowley was born in Shepshed (Baptised at the oaks in Charley) 1883 he married Alice Armstrong and the family moved to nanpanton between 1883 and 1885 (his sister agnes was born in nanpanton 1885).

He was discharged 11 Dec 1915 with Trench foot, he was an organist at Thorpe Acre church when my mum knew him. he was my grandmothers brother, and his parents were James and Mary (nee Start) He died 1970 age 87 in Loughborough. Hope this helps if I can help with any of the Bowleys or Rossells please contact me i will be glad to help

Hi Rossell,

Thanks for the info.  The date of death and link to Thorpe Acre is new for me, so thanks for that.  I have sent you a PM with my email address so I can show you documents I have to hand.

Best wishes,
