Baptism - Birkenhead - Egremont
« on: Sunday 20 February 11 07:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi, just wondering how I can go about obtaining a baptism certificate or baptism details.  Is there anything online I can search for baptisms?
I have a birth certificate, but was interested in getting the baptism details as well if possibly.  The name is Terence Brian Donovan, born 30 October 1917, Birkenhead, Wallasey.   There is a possibility that it could be Johns Anglican Church, Egremont, but unsure.

Thanks for any information.
Maxe.

Doubt you could get a certificate as I don't think they were official documents as such. Think you would have to look up parish records.  St Johns is not a church any more although still there. It is currently up for sale. Assume the parish records would be held at Chester or possibly Wirral Archives?

Not actually sure where the Birkenhead bit comes into it as Wallasey is/was a separate town unless it was lumped together for BMD? St Johns of course being in Egremont/Liscard in Wallasey.

Hi, the birth record says Wallasey/Wirral on Cheshire BMD (I have misplaced the certificate).  I also went by the parents' marriage as being St Johns, Egremont, so sorry was a bit hit and miss.  I thought I remembered Birkenhead from another certificate of another ancestor.  I guess the Wirral Archives would be the best to follow up.

Thanks.
