HI my name is amanda i have found my grandmother margaret ellen hosier in the 1901 census she was in brampton ash  Northamptonshire Is brampton ash a village. THANK YOU aMANDA ???

Hi have you had a look on Google Maps it is a small place outside Melton Mowbray, so yes I would think at least a village, not my area but I am certain someone will fill you in with more detailed knowledge of the area, but have a look on Google ok!

In 1901 Brampton Ash came under the Market Harborough district.

Today it's a village very near Stoke Albany.

I drive past Brampton Ash quite often, I will go and have a look the next time I go that way.

Its a nice little place. One church. quite a big one with floodlights in the grounds so possibly lit up at night. A farm and a dozen or so houses. All of them out of my price range.

No shop or post office as far as I could see. It does have a telephone box, an old fashioned red one.

HI JOHN thank you for looking up BRAMPTON ASH for me it is very kind of you. I found my GRANDMOTHER MARGARET ELLEN HOSIER was employed as a servant for a family called BARRY in the 1901 census . I think it was a farm  I wonder if is still there thank you once again for your reply AMANDA :D
