Waters family, West Lothian Scotland 1880 - present

Hi, I am researching the Waters family who stayed in Uphall, West Lothian from 1880. Peter being the head of the family and his wife Isabelle who was origionally from Sligo , Ireland. Can anyone helpme please???

Hi Monica, please forgive me as I am new to this website. I have the 13 children!!
Mary born 1881, James born 1884, Margaret Jane born 1888, Major born 1886Catherine born 1895, Isabella born 1896, William born 1897, Hannah born 1899, George born 1900, Agnes born 1903, Jessie Smith born 1905 and Thomas Paterson born 1906. Don't have any more details. Parents Peter Waters and Isabella Walker.

Miaow, why do you think that Isabella Walker came from Sligo, what's the source for this? I think she might have hailed from Londonderry...

Ev, I was seeing those parents also, which is why on checking on IGI, it brought up these births:

1. JAMES ALEXANDER WALKER Birth: 19 JUL 1860 Lower Cumber, Londonderry
2. MARY MARGARET WALKER Birth: 22 JAN 1862 Lower Cumber, Londonderry
3. ISABELLA WALKER Birth: 04 NOV 1863 Lower Cumber, Londonderry
4. MAJOR WALKER Birth: 28 AUG 1865 Lower Cumber, Londonderry
5. ELIZA JANE WALKER  Birth: 09 APR 1868 Lower Cumber, Londonderry
6. CATHERINE WALKER Birth: 14 AUG 1869 Uphall, West Lothian
7. GEORGE WALKER Birth: 11 DEC 1870 Uphall, West Lothian
8. WILLIAM DUNLOP WALKER Birth: 11 JUN 1872 Uphall, West Lothian

The Scottish birth certficates will let you confirm place and date of parents marriage in Ireland

on the 1881 census)
not too sure about peter waters , 1881 has his birth as blackrigg berwick
scotland , can't see a match on SP or IGI

I struggled with Peter Waters also Ev. There was a possible entry for him in Berwickshire in one of the earlier censuses that I looked at last night but, as you say, nothing on IGI showing for a birth.

Perhaps miao if you decide to look at the marriage cert that Ev found for Peter and Isabella, we can be more certain of what we are looking for with his parents' names to help in the searches
