Paddington Burial Records -William Clarke
« on: Friday 18 February 11 13:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks,

Ive been on the search for a year and a half for my fathers half brother. We have found him in Margate in the late 20s but then there is no more record of him.

By chance it appears that someone on Ancestry had been sent the wrong birth certificate in the past, in the 70s, and had potential details of his death, OCT NOV DEC 1974 in Paddington .

Where would the best place to be to enquire about burials or headstone inscriptions in the Paddington Area.

I'm from Northern Ireland but would definitely take a trip over if we could confirm there is a grave in existence.

William Clarke

DOB 28/6/1904 - Ballymacilroy, Ahoghill, Co. Antrim

Hi

There is one death registration for that date of birth

William Frederick Clarke
28th June 1904
Death registration 1974
Paddington registration district
Volume 14
Page 1307

If you think this is him to contact cemetery authorities you really need the date and place of death from his death certificate.

The guide to London burials on the London and Middlesex boards lists cemeteries and the links to the cemetery authorities that hold the records.

Paddington is in the Westminster area.

Don't forget that by the 1970's lots of people were choosing cremation rather than burials, unles they were particularly religious of course.

So that's another avenue to consider. :D

Details for Paddington Old cemetery here on the Brent Council site

http://www.brent.gov.uk/cemetery.nsf/Cemeteries/LBB-7

Brent Council have put some of their records online with Deceased Online, except this cemetery. The registers are stored at Alperton.

I spoke with staff at Brent within the last month and they helped me out with a basic look-up and confirmed the person I was looking for was there. But for £10 they did further research for me and found another 4 people in the plot.
