Jamaican will help
« on: Thursday 17 February 11 22:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Does anyone have details of a will by Stephen Morant

Folio : RGO/SpTw   Liber 24    Year: 1743-1744

The details are taken from this website

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jamwgw/early.htm

I have been quoted $85 for a copy of this will - but all I urgently want to know is whether his wife's name is mentioned and what it is??

If anyone already HAS a copy of this will I would greatly apprectiate some information

Try an on line of the National Archives website at Kew; if the will is there and available for download it should cost £3-50, at $85 someone is looking for an early retirement.

Hi

It looks like the website you posted has details of how to find the will on LDS films.  You don't say where you are in the world on your profile, but in the UK it costs a few pounds to order a film in.

Alternatively if you can locate the film number you can check if they hold it at the LDS London Records Centre and somebody could go and view it for you when they are going to view other films.  There would be no film charge if it is already on site  ;)

Hello Jackski

There is a strong possibility that the will is located at the British Library in London. It is worth contacting them as they are obliging. Below I have attached the link to the website. Good luck! Sharon

Regards Jamaican wills on LDS films you will require film numbers 1937926, 1937927, 1937928, 1937929 and 1937930

The LDS have a whole lot of films about a wide variety of records which may be useful to family historians, including in some cases other parish records. If you need help about documents from the British Library, please send me a pm. as I visit from time to time.

How confusing - I have looked on the BL website and dont seem to be able to find my way round it very easily :S

How would I find out if the will is there ?
Ive emailed them - Can anyone else help as I dont really know how to locate this at either LDS or British Library?
