Hi KHP

Thanks for that.   :)

Yes, I'd scrolled through the E/rolls at A****try, and noticed a "James CROCKETT" ... but thought he wasn't likely to have been someone who'd emigrated in the 1880's ?

Now seems though (from jrocket's latest post), that we might be looking for a "James" who was still around in the 1950's ??

Gee   ... I'm all confused now.   ;D

Sorry to confuse you, James is my father and it was his uncle and gr.uncle who both went to New Zealand from Lossiemouth.  His gr. uncle was called James and his uncle was Edward, the Lucinda Petrie Crockett I think must have been a daughter of Edward who married Marg. Ann Stewart. It must have been a son of Edward who married in the 1950's thus preventing my parent and I from going to New Zealand. :)

Hi jrocket

That's okay.  :D

I've just been looking at the census information given on that Scotland thread, and by scribbling down the various people from Lucinda PETRIE & George WOOD, I've kinda worked out where Edward CROCKETT fits in. (I think. )

So the latest census info given for Edward and wife Margaret (Maggie) Ann, is 1901 and they have several children at that time ... but NOT a son called James ?

Lucinda Petrie CROCKETT (who appears to have been their daughter - according to info from NZ researcher) is not born until c. 1913 ... and it may be that there were further children (perhaps another son) born between 1902 and Lucinda's birth.

Question    :)

*    Do you know the christian name of the son of Edward who went to New Zealand ?

Hi again

Can you please give the years of birth for

James  -- the great uncle  .... and

  Edward  -- the uncle.

Cheers.

Hi

Incidentally, I found what appears might be the arrival of Lucinda Petrie CROCKETT in New Zealand ... and have posted this info on the Scotland board for the NZ researcher.

CROCKETT - Luci
Born:  1913
Southampton UK to Wellington, NZ - 1928

[No other CROCKETT name for that year (1928) UK to Wellington.   Lucinda would only have been aged 15 or 16 in 1928 so may have been accompanied by family members who had a different surname.   Above is from index only so full passenger list at findmypast.com (pay to view), would need to be sighted. ]

Edward was born 10.6.1873   James was born between 1760 -1780 I do not have his date of birth only know that his brother was born in 1773.  Some records from the early days were difficult to read as they watered down the ink, and also some records were damaged.   :)  Sorry don't know son's name still trying to find out.

It would appear that she travelled alone and her occupation is listed as "Domestic".
Her address is shown as 26 Commerce Street Lossiemouth and age is 15.

Edward was born 10.6.1873

Hi again

*   Was the above Edward CROCKETT you've mentioned, the son of James CROCKETT and Jane WOOD ??

[There is an extracted record on the IGI (familysearch) - probably a church record - which shows this Edward's birth date as 10 June 1874. ]
