« on: Tuesday 15 February 11 21:16 GMT (UK) »
I was wondering in anyone knew if there was a headstone for Robert Graham who died 06 Dec 1874? I would really appreciate any help.

Hi, no to Robert Graham in Arbroath ... according to my MI book there is only one headstone in the Abbey Cemetery for this surname ... which relates to an Isabella Graham.

That's too bad. Thank you so much for looking it up for me.  I found him on deceasedonline as being buried there with his son John. I guess that means that he doesn't have a headstone? I was hoping to get some more information from the inscription. I found the rest of his family (Henry & Agnes)on deceasedonline but they were buried in Arbroath Eastern Cemetery. I thought that was strange. Thanks again.

Hi, no to Robert Graham in Arbroath ... according to my MI book there is only one headstone in the Abbey Cemetery for this surname ... which relates to an Isabella Graham.

Is that the booklet by Alison Mitchell, published by the Scottish Genealogy Society?

Because if so, you need to be aware that it includes only stones which have at least one death before 1855. If 1874 is the earliest or only inscription on the stone, it won't be included unless it is obviously related to a neighbouring stone with a pre-1855 inscription.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

So maybe there is still hope? Robert was buried in 1874 and his son John in 1932 in the same spot Row 43/46 according to deceased online. I was really hoping that there would be a picture on deceased online but no luck. Thanks for all your information. I really appreciate you taking the time.

Melinda,
I can have a look for you. I live near the Abbey cemetery. If I can find the stone I shall send you a personal msg with my e-mail address. If you reply I'll send you a picture. Although , if there is a a stone, it may not be where your relation is actually buried. Apparently the cemetery was tidied up and relaid out ...to make it neater

Had a look around the cemetery today and had a good look round the area concerned. No luck, I am afraid. No sign of either stone. It is possible that there was no stone(s) or if the stone(s) were broken then they would have been removed.
