Look up request MANN
« on: Tuesday 15 February 11 02:11 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a death notice (and/or obituary) possibly in the Belfast News-Letter for my gt grandfather Henry Church Mann who died in hospital in Belfast on 11 May 1908. He resided at Drumlamph House, Castledawson. Can anyone help?

Hi,
Henry Church Mann's will is listed on the PRONI Wills site. He died on 11 May 1908. Unfortunately there is no image of the actual will.

Belfast Newsletter is online but stops 31 Dec.1900.

You could try contacting George McIntyre via his website- he's been collecting information on Drumlamph families for years:

Added- see that I suggested contacting George in 2009-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks aghadowey and kingskerswell. I have been in contact with George McIntyre and he was helpful in confirming that the family home was Drumlamph House, but doesn't seem to have any info on the family.  I think I have all the online info from PRONI including Henry's will (and his father's) that were in a box, which a staff member kindly copied and sent over. I have found over 100 articles refering to Henry and his father in the 19th century online Belfast Newsletter. With the help of the Griffiths Valuation online and Google Maps UK street view I have maps of their landholdings and pictures of these properties. The Australian National Library and the Victorian State Library do not have microfiche copies of the early 20th century editions of the Belfast Newsletter, so I suppose I was hoping to find someone with access to these records. It's very frustrating being so far from the information, maybe the next step is to buy a ticket to Belfast. Thanks again.
