Bradford library- newspaper look up

Hi,

just wondering if anyone was going to do any research at the bradford central library in the near future?  I have a death cert for an ancestor of mine- Sarah Ann Walton.  The death cert says that she drowned in the Leeds Liverpool canal at Shipley on 29/10/1915.  There was an inquest but I doubt whether there will be record of this now.  The best that I can hope for is that it was reported in the local newspaper, ie Telegraph and Argus or the Shipley News.  The death cert. says that it was an accidental death but I would just like a bit more information about this unfortunate event.  If anyone is going to the library and can give me anymore info. I would be extremely grateful.

I see you come from Leeds- The Leeds central Library may have Bradford newspapers or even the Yorkshire post newspaper may have the inquest.

I you are moblie?? (Health wise) the X 6 bus from Leeds to Bradford stops at the bus station then the city free bus to the library total time 1 hour max with connection time of 10 min in Bradford bus station or a 3 to 5 min walk to the library off the X 6 stop at the bus station.

 Car Parking is dear in Bradford hence the Bus

Cheapest way is phone Bradford library as they do free look ups on known date  entries and will send a copy if found! Charge about a £1 to £2 tops with postage included or dictate it over the phone free..

Hi.  I have a Sarah Anne Walton, nee Halton, b. 1855 Leeds. m to Samuel in my tree. I wondered if this was the same one?  I do not have a date of death but this would make her 60.  I would be interested in any information you discovered concerning her death.

Greenamber, your family do seem to have more than their fair share of tragic deaths! (if it is your relation of course).  All I have found so far is that she fell into the canal in fog and drowned, and that she was a widow.  Still looking

A bit more info, Sarah Ann Walton lived at 1 Jane Hills, Shipley and worked at Mason's Mill in Shipley.  Before her fall into the canal she had visited her sister, Mrs. Holdsworth in Kirkgate.

I really am hoping this is not our Sarah! I do not know when Sam died, so don't know if she was a widow at the time of her death.  She had 5 sisters and I know nothing of their lives. She had 11 children.

Wonder if the Dec 1915 is her?

I have been looking for Sam's death record in FreeBMD and found:

Deaths Jun 1915
Walton    Samuel    66    N.Bierley    9b    110    365    

Sam was born 1849/50

Looking at your post yesterday Jool of:

I am now wondering if Sam died in the June of 1915 and Sarah followed him through grief in the canal or naturally in Dec 1915?

If this is my family - it was all happening in 1915!
