McGEE help me find them
« on: Sunday 13 February 11 12:04 GMT (UK) »
My ancestor Margaret McGovern born Rathowen Co Westmeath Ireland between 1865-1880 approx.  Married Phillip McGee ( could be McGhee or McGhie) and according to family information they emigrated to Australia.   I have no idea when. Possible dates 1883-1910.

Margaret's parents were Michael McGovern and Bridget Tormey

I realise it's a long shot, but I have hit a brick wall.  Can anyone out there help me find them.  I apologise for lack of information.

hi
i,ve looked at the emigration records and bearing in mind they don,t start until 1890 i found this record for a mr mcgee & mrs mcgee emigrating on 31 aug 1900 for freemantle his occupation farmer born 1862, now again the problem with a lot of these records is the fact they don,t have either a first initial or a first name and place of birth they can be very sketchy at times .

Hi Trevor

Thank you for your reply.  I know it can be difficult with not a lot to go on.   It could be them 1862 is within the birth time frame for Margaret too.   It's spooky because the Great-great grand neice of Margaret lives in Freemantle now.   Is there any records in Australia that could be checked to find them?   I appreciate the help you have given me, it's something I'm anxious to find out about.

Hi Trevor

Thanks for the link to the site.  I will have a good look through it all.  I am in touch with the niece in Freemantle so it's possible she can search from her end.  Thank you so much for helping me
