After having had a very late night because i was having difficulty working out all this information i think i have found out that we are NOT related and am so sad!! Sorry folks!!I had been given some information to start me off by other people with an interest in geneology and who had large data bases of north antrim people. And my mum had confirmed that as a child her father had gone to dirraw to see relatives. BUT i have just been up at PRONI a few days ago and had seen the actual entry of John Curry and Mary Mc Caw's marriage and it states that her father was a Samuel Mc Caw of Craignamaddy which is a different townland. So she was probably not Mary Serah as I thought last night  and later i  found a death of a Mary Eliza Curry in 1902 which may tie in!

It may be of help to anyone who is not living in NI to know that the most recent Ordinance survey maps 1:50,000 Discoverer series on the back have a simpe road layout overlaid with all the townlands. I find it so useful even i come from nearby so if anyone is doing research from a distance i know it would be of help. Ballycastle is Sheet 5 and Ballymoney is sheet 8 and you can buy them online. Hope this makes up for my error and confusing folk!

On 11 Feb 1859 Hugh McCaw, father William, married Letitia Adams, father Robert, in  Finvoy Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney.
Hello there,
Since retiring recently, I have just started to look into family history and am so pleased to have at last found a link to my family tree!
My great grandmother was Mary Serah Mc Caw born to Hugh and Letitia  born on 16th April 1868. She married my great grandfather John Curry 27 Dec 1888 of Lismorrity in Trinity church Ballymoney and they had one son my grandfather John Curry born 10 Dec 1893. The family of 3 are in the 1901 census living there but by the 1911 census she had died though as yet i have not found a date of death or where she is buried! Lismorrity is where my grandfather who married Anna Mary Adams 22nd Aug 1919 lived and where my mum was born. she says that, as a result of the mum Mary Serah dying when he was a young boy, her dad was able to knit and sew , turn the heel of a sock, and had to cook and clean. Certainly his school record is VERY patchy as i have found that in PRONI office recently. Any more information on Hugh Letitia and Mary Serah  would be wonderful!

Hi there. My name is Janine McCaw. Thomas McCaw (1916) is/was my grandfather, my father is/was Hugh McCaw, who moved to Canada from Scotland. Two of my brothers are Hugh and Tom, so I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same family here.  Feel free to facebook me. I live in Vancouver.

Maybe I can help. My name is Janine McCaw. I live in Vancouver, Canada. My father (deceased) is Hugh McCaw. He emigrated from Scotland. His father, Thomas McCaw married Margaret Kennedy. Thomas went to war as part of the 15'th Highland Infantry and was killed in France in 1916. His name is on the memorial at Somme. Two of my three brothers will have familiar names to you, being named Hugh and Colin Thomas (Tom). So, I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same family. It's nice to meet you. You can find me on facebook.  :)
