Good afternoon fellow searchers,
Henry Brayshaw of Blackmoorfoot married an Elizabeth in Q2/1844 - registered at Huddersfield.
Unfortunately, the BMD records (22/181) show only 3 spouses for 4 grooms and no Elizabeth. One of the 3 females is a Betty Sykes, but the 1851 and 1861 census records show Henry's wife and widow as Elizabeth. Interestingly there is a Mary Sykes (15) living at the Brayshaw establishment in 1841.
An Ancestry 'Public Tree' shows Henry's wife as Elizabeth Bray, but I am not convinced. The Elizabeth Bray marriage registered in Q2/1844 in Huddersfield is shown on record 22/182 not 181, and that page has a matching complement of males and females.
I would be extremely grateful if anyone can suggest an alternative source of Huddersfield Parish records which may help me to solve this knotty problem.
NB I realise that if all else fails I can always purchase yet another GRO certificate to add to my ever growing pile.
Regards,
Denise Bennett
