ENDEAN Family-St Agnes
« on: Saturday 12 February 11 18:57 GMT (UK) »
Sincere apologies if I have posted this incorrectly; very new to the web site!
Does any member of the Endean/Indiain Family have knowledge of what may have happended to a John Indean christened 19/1/1756 at Saint Agnes?
He was the son of John Indean and Mary Hill; his brothers were Samson (1759)and James(1765). He also had a sister, Mary(1757. It may be possible that James was buried at St Agnes in 1785.)

Hi there, hope you are enjoying the site. It looks like cornwall opc have burials for St Agnes, there is a John Indean (senior) 7 Dec 1788 but nothing else fora John at St Agnes except John Indean's (snr) marriage to Mary Hill. However, there is this marriage at Perranzabuloe, 4 miles from St Agnes but it would make John 38 at the time so there may well be another John Indean!

John Indean 4 May 1794 Perranzabuloe marriage to Charity More. Then shortly after there is a John Indean buried 6 Sep 1794 Perranzabuloe.

From familysearch.org IGI there is a baptism at St Agnes 24 Jan 1788 Joanna Indean, parents John Indean and Elizabeth, so could this be your John?

Many thanks for your reply; something to think about!
The reason for the post is that I have a John Indian who turned up in the Alston area of Northumberland marrying a Margaret Makpeace in 1784.
Its thought that Indian may be a corruption of Indaian/Endean and may have originated in Cornwall; St Agnes had a "John" around the correct time.
It was a longshot and perhaps I was a little optimistic in hoping someone would say "he was the black sheep of our family" and moved up North!!!!
Response very much appreciated though!
