we have ordered a birth cert for william pearson born 1880 on the certificate his father is john pearson and his mother is sarah pearson formerly speirs the register office were unsure of the name and have guessed at the speirs can anyone find the real maiden name of sarah

thanks for the very fast reply yes that is the family in the 1881 census, the pearson family has been a massively difficult one to sort out

As the eldest child in 1881 is 12 - could there have been older children who have left home and are working away ?
is this too early
1861 ...John Pearson to Sarah H SABIN at Manchester Cathedral
this would make them 20 and 17 at their marriage ......

first child babtised
William Pearson 25th Sep 1861 at Sacred Trinity, Salford...John and Sarah - parents  I presume this child dies
John Pearson 18th mar 1866   same church -parents
Sarah 25th May 1870 ....same
Thomas was babtised the same day as William in  1880
Lllie Pearson babtised 8th Mar 1882 same church /parents / occupation...is this another Lillie and the first Lillie died 1881 ?after the census ?
so it looks like it may be Sarah Sabin......as all these children seem to be babtised in the same church to John Pearson and Sarah from 1861.....

Never seen that one msr....looks a good shout - looks more like Speirs than Sabin does....
and Sabin is Sarah Ann....I think Sarah Skein is well worth researching......allan

thanks for all your help the register office have enclosed a cutting from a copy of the actual register and it definitely looks like it has an e and i in the name so i think that sarah skein must be the one
