Chepstow Military Hospital 1920s

My grandfather was injured in W.W.1 and ended up having treatment in Chepstow in 1923 for a badly damaged leg.

Does anyone kow where the hospital was or if there are any pictures online - can't seem to find any myself.

Hello Crunwere 

This would have been Mount Pleasant Hospital, Chepstow, which was built in 1917 by the Admiralty for National Shipyard workers in Chepstow. During WW1 it was used to treat servicemen. It later became famous as the Chepstow Burns hospital and burns victims from across South Wales and South West England were treated there for burns including plastic surgery.

Hi, I lived in Chepstow as a child from 1956. I remember the military patients wearing their blue uniform around the town. They were given a great deal of respect. Around this time my mother was a nurse at the hospital. It had the reputation of being one of the best burns units in the country.

There were two hospitals either side of the St. Lawrence Road. Mount Pleasant Hospital and St. Lawrence Hospital.

Greetings! Last summer, I was on holiday in Wales and visited the Museum in what had been the Chepstow Hospital during the Great War. There was a marvelous display focusing on the nurses who served the soldier-patients at that location. I am a retired nurse and feel that there is a great story to be told here. I hope to spend some time back in Wales, digging into more of the history with the aim of preparing a manuscript for publication.  (I have authored and edited numerous articles and books.)
Any assistance in terms of research, sources, names, photos, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
