tracing any Dickings family
« on: Thursday 10 February 11 20:09 GMT (UK) »
also trying to trace any relatives of John Robert and Sarah Ann Dickings, had a son Robert Henry born 1907. I think Robert married a Gladys Cater in 1943 but don't know if they had any family. From the Spalding area I think.  John and his family moved to Gosberton Risegate and past his remaining years in a home at Spalding.  Any info would be brilliant. Thanks

Hi

If they married in 1943 - any possible children from that marriage are probably still living and Rootschat do not allow any such info to be posted

You can find some tips on searching for living relatives on this link

http://www.rootschat.com/help/posting_guide.php

The only Robert Henry Dickings death I can find was in 1975 in Notts but he was born 1894

And this is the only Robert Henry Dickings birth

Births June qtr 1896

Correction; Robert & Gladys did not appear to have any children.
If you know when they died you could check the probate records, to see if any names were mentioned

Hi Lady Emma
Sorry for the late reply, I had given up of anyone having anymore info.

Where in the dickens tree are your family please? I have a large family tree off a relative living in North Kyme who sadly didn't know anything about John and Sarah.
Do you know if anyone knows of John and Sarah having two children board with them, which we think they could have been foster parents at the time??  Not sure of details but my dad does remember visiting Mr Dickens who brought up his dad at Gosberton Risegate with his sister.
Any info would be a great help.  Thanks

Yes, I am.
We have no knowledge about why Charles (my grandfather) and Ethel came to live with the Dickens family. Only found out about this afew years ago!!
Only haven't found a Dickens relative that has any info about this either, sadly.
Would like to find out anything so that I can tell my Dad (Charles's son). Sadly both of these people are no longer alive to tell us their story!!
X

You should be aware that the GRO index death record March Quarter 1975 Nottingham for Robert Henry Fox records his birth date as "Estimated 1894", though he may have died in the December Qtr 1974.
There were no children recorded as being born with the combined surname of Fox/Cater after 1944 in Spalding.
There was only one child registered in the Spalding RD after 1939 with the Cater surname;
Cater  Christopher / Guisi
