There was a Frances RANGER in Ringmer in the 1841 census - aged 70, born Sussex. She was lodging with a DIVALL family - also lodging there was a Philis WHITE and two WHITE children.

1841 ref: HO107/1117 bk 5 f18 p2

ETA: I notice that Henry and Frances RANGER baptised a daughter "Philly" (per IGI) in Ringmer in 1801 - could this be the same person as the Philis WHITE (aged "36") who appears with Frances in 1841?

Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)

Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)

cant see her in 1851 - have you got her DaveDeacon?

If not, how do you know yours was still alive?
Have you got the cert for the death in 1858 to confirm the age of that person?

thankyou both!
I am picking up the information I have to start with from another member of the family & trying to prove/disprove it.

avm228 - very interesting on the White front - had not yet made that connection - thanks :)

lizdb - according to my inherited info and also the Ringmer village website (http://www.ringmer.info) she appears as Fanny Ranger

I do have concerns over these dates as I have the marriage cert for 1793, was she born earlier than 1780 ? If so and she lived to 1858 she reached some ripe old age !

OK got her - indexed as aged 23, but actually 83.
Indexed Runger
HO107 1643 751 15

Born East Barmer? Burmer? in Sussex

In receipt of Charity ....... ?

Widow of Ag lab.
Next door but 3 to a Divall family

This and the 1841 finding are pointing to a birth around 1768/70
Fits in much better with the marriage
