« on: Wednesday 09 February 11 02:40 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Could someone kindly give me the specific address for a Sarah Purey in the 1841 census.  She was 22 and in the parish of Penn.

Kind regards

Morning - there is no specific address given for her on the 1841 census image, going back to the previous image there is entry with Forty Green written beside it, so I suspect that's where she was.

& sure enough, if you locate the people she was living with in 1841; Mary Bates b 1818 & children George & Mary on the 1851 census the address is 30 Forty Green, Penn.

cheers John

Mary Bates on the 1841 baptised Marianne (Mary Ann) Pizzey 15.12.1816 Holy Trinity Penn.
She married Henry Bates 28.9.1835 at HT Penn.

Bates are my husband's lot but I haven't looked at the Pusey/Pizzey/whatever side, perhaps I will.......

Hello Alison,

Perhaps the Marianne and Sarah were sisters then?  Who were Marianne's parents listed at her baptism?

I am researching Sarah Pusey.  I believe that she had two illegitimate children, Henry (1839 at Penn - can find birth but no baptism) and William (c.1845 at Amersham - can find baptism but no birth).  When she had William it appears that she was living in the workhouse.  She married William Wire (Weir) at Amersham in 1848 then migrated to Australia.  When she died, her father's name was listed as Charles.

There is baptism for a Sarah Pusey in Penn on 29 Oct 1818, daughter of Charles and Ann.  I think that this might be her.  I can't seem to find anything more such as marriage of Charles and Ann or their deaths.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Sally

Baptism 5.5.1839 Henry Richard son of Rowland Charles Hurley & Sarah Pusey of Penn, a Farmer's pupil

Baptism  15.12.1816   Marianne daughter of Charles & Ann PIZZIE of Hill Farm, Labourer

I'd say they were sisters. I had a quick look earlier for parent's marriage, it wasn't at Penn, can't see them on the census either.

Possible burials at Penn
2 .5.1845   Charles PUSEY aged 52 of Union Poor House
21.12.1856   Ann PUSEY aged 77 of Penn Church
22.6.1857   Ann PUSEY aged 72 of Beacon Hill

Family Search has a marriage 2.9.1816 Charles Puzey & Anne Dean at Clewer Berks  :-\

Allison,

That is very interesting.  They must have been sisters.

What happened to Marinanne's husband?  He is not listed with them in the 1841 census.

The baptism for Henry Richard is also interesting.  His birth certificate is registered under Henry Richard Pusey and has no father listed.  His dob is 12 April 1839 so it is very likely that this is his baptism.

Someone looked up the marriage at Clewer Berkshire for Charles and Ann and it said that they were both from that parish.  The marriage was in Sept 1816 with the baptism of the Marianne in December 1816 so not sure if it is related or not.

Kind regards
