« on: Tuesday 08 February 11 22:21 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help with tracing Emily Gavaghans birth place, abt 1898 in Swindon ,Wiltshire.
Her mother was Emily Stephens(Stevens)born Berkshire.
 Father John Gavaghan.(Miner)Born Wigan.

I have her in Wigan ,Lancashire in the 1901 census then nothing!
I cannot find her death, but have found one wrong first name, right surname and age in Wigan?

The freebmd index will narrow down the place and give a second name. Swindon does not exist as a reg district until 1899.

What is the "wrong" name that you have?

Just beat me to it Suz. Highworth is the correct registration district for Swindon in 1897.

Anne
Halifax/Huddersfield area West Yorkshire
Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire and nearby areas.

Thanks Suz & Anne that was fast work ;D

I think sadly that will help me to trace her.

I had hoped she had stayed with other family members.

Thanks again for your help.
