At a poster's suggestion, I obtained the Military records for an ancestor who joined the VDC in Albany in 1942. On the Service & Casualty Form it reads:
the date of the report, VDC then "Enlisted & T.O.S."
then a 2nd entry with a date the following year, 6th Btn and what looks like "S.O.S. and S/O 9 (2) (E)"
Handwritten on form is his age at Enlistment, age at Discharge, and
"Discharge due to Absence without Leave".
Does anyone have any idea what the T.O.S. is or the S.O.S. entry?
