MCCROSSEN family from WOOLWICH

I am researching the MCCROSSEN family from Woolwich  (also seen spelt as Mccrossan, Mccrossin etc).  I believe that they were Roman Catholic.

Are Roman Catholic parish registers available for lookup?

Is any one else researching this family or have further information?

late 1700s to 1850s or so.

My ancestor James McCrossen was transported to Australia in 1836 aged 17.  I believe that his parents may be Alexander and Catherine McCrossen.

Hi Sally, I have a distant connection with the McCrossens of Woolwich. They were not catholic. There are plenty of references to their marriages, baptisms etc. on Ancestry for the family of Alexander & Catherine McCrossen, all taking place at Anglican churches. I haven't seen any reference to a son James but he could be one of theirs. Alex and Catherine are in in the census of 1841. I think Alex died 1863 and Catherine 1858. There are marriage certs for daughter Sarah to William Hall in 1844, son Alexander to Elizabeth Driscoll in 1846. Another person says there was a son Jeremiah, who was in the army in 1841 and a pauper in 1901. For spellings also check: Crosen, Crosan, Crossen, McCrosen etc... Also some of the ancestry transcribing is wrong. I have tried to make correction notes where possible.
