Elizabeth Lacon born 1810 Saxton, Yorkshire

Nancy Lacon born 1817, Saxton - married George Wilson 1836, Saxton

Do you have any of the parent's information to make it a little easier to hunt them down? There seems to be quite a bit on the usual databases so this piece of info might help narrow the search a bit.

hilhouse, Presumably you are aware that Saxton is situated just a few miles outside Tadcaster, towards Sherburn-in-Elmet.  In Wetherby up until the 1960s at least, there was a Lakin family in Wetherby, and they owned a greengrocers shop on the High Street.

I was aware that the Lakins had a greengrocers on the High Street in Wetherby but have no other info than that - would you know anymore or of any photos?

Thanks

hilhouse,
I cannot assist re photos.  I believe Mr. Lakin had 2 sons. One, the younger, Ken, joined the Police, and then resigned to take over the running of the shop in Wetherby.  He later moved to Hebden, near Grassington(now North Yorks.) where he ran a pub with his wife.  I believe that he has now retired.
I am sure the older brother was also in the Police, possibly at Pontefract.  He studied law and I think gained an LLb., subsequently leaving the Police.  I believe he moved to London and became a barrister.  I think I have that right re the older brother, although my memory is a bit hazy re him.
'Hazy memory' ? - it has just flashed into my mind that his wife's name was Christine.

Thank you for the information. Joseph Lakin who set up the greengrocers was the child of my great great aunt.

Re my last post, when I mention Christine, the wife, it was ambiguous.  If Christine was the correct name, she was Ken's wife.  Yesterday, I googled Lakin, barrister, and it revealed a Paul Lakin in London, so that might be the older brother.
