where is it?
« on: Sunday 06 February 11 08:58 GMT (UK) »
I am requesting that someone might be able to help regarding a place where my gx parents lived back in the 17th century.
I know from deeds it was called 'wintiferoid' and then became Winter royd. From what I have deduced from other deeds, it is actually in Pinnel and was originally part of Hill House in Wadsworth. I know that there is a Pinnel Lock on the canal in Todmorden but can't seem to find anything on any map. I also know it was or is near Foster Clough.
Many thanks,
Sandra

Hi Sylvia,

Yes thanks Sylvia I have all the info on Wintiferoid, or Winter royd and also that in the final deeds that it was to be kept in trust for an Enoch Cockroft.
Not sure if he is in  my decendency as my lot moved back into Illingworth. I am just trying to locate the exact house/farm or area.
thanks again,
Sandra
