A lot of ancient names (saxon/roman) were discriptive of the place or people living there.

So cant imagine who lived at THE SCABBY ONES FARM in the north east.

The place is now known as sheraton.

There is a PARADISE in Aberdeenshire.  I have certificates from my husband's family tree that refer to people living at 'Paradise Siding'  :)

Loweswater has some safe roads even the road signs say "Red squirrels drive with care"

So I can't work out if they have to drive with care, or if they do drive with care

My son and I always have a laugh at the sign on a road corner near us, "Dead Slow Children Playing" What, are they playing in slow motion? They'd be easy to avoid then, wouldn't they.

Rod - theres a Lower Dicker too...and if we're being a bit rude..

                Littlehampton - W Sussex

??? ??? ???

There's a pond on Hampstead Heath which used to be a reservoir called Hatch's Bottom.  The name was changed to The Vale of Health pretty hurriedly when they discovered that people didn't want drinking water from Hatch's Bottom!
